  1. Go to the Canadian Anthropology Society site at http://www.cas-sca.ca/ and read “The funding of Anthropological research in Canada: A report to the Canadian Anthropology Society” [1998]. Write a short paper summarizing the issues Canadian anthropologists face when trying to get research funding.

  2. Take a look at the work of Dr. David Counts and his wife, Dr. Dorothy Ayers Counts at http://anthropology.uwaterloo.ca/WNB/bones.pg1.htm. Why did these anthropologists decide to change their research from the Papua New Guinea? What are some of the conclusions they have reached over the course of their fieldwork? Compare and contrast the fieldwork they performed at each location.
